The workshop is open to individuals from Academic Institutions and National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) from EU member states, EEA/EFTA countries and candidate countries.
Aims of the Workshop
- To discuss interests of different stakeholders, define potential steps and action plan for the creation of European degree programmes in official statistics.
- Build partnerships between European Academic Institutions and NSIs in the implementation of the "knowledge triangle" linking research, education and innovation as key elements for a knowledge-based society.
- Ensure that European Academic Institutions have a pivoting role in interactions with NSIs through knowledge transfer, dissemination and direct partnerships for research.
The workshop programme includes:
- Discussions and papers on the staff training needs in official statistics at NSIs and programmes of study that can be offered at Academic Institutions (either on a part-time or full-time study basis).
- Building partnerships between European Academic Institutions to provide solutions on training in official statistics.
- Developing a common platform for the exchange of students and the development of teaching material.
- Formulating a prioritised action plan and proposals for common developments in planning training programmes in official statistics including a European masters degree.
