S3RI Symposium on the Convergence of Methods for the Analysis of Panel Data

6 - 7th April 2006, Highfield Campus, University of Southampton

Symposium aims:

There are many approaches to modelling panel, longitudinal or repeated measure data, including graphical chain models, marginal models, random effects models and structural equation models. The aim of this symposium is to bring together experts to discuss the current state of the art of these various approaches. Issues to be discussed include:

  1. their similarities and differences;
  2. their advantages and disadvantages;
  3. their ability to handle observational data from complex sample surveys;
  4. their ability to account for panel attrition, item non-response and measurement error.

The Symposium will feature invited and contributed papers.

Invited speakers:

Ken Bollen (North Carolina),

Joop Hox (Utrecht),

Andrew Pickles (Manchester),

Fiona Steele (Bristol),

Rolf Steyer (Jena),

Nanny Wermuth (Gothenburg)
