This conference provides an opportunity for anyone with an interest in quantitative methods in the social sciences to find out more about this subject, drawing on developments associated with the QMSS programme of workshop/seminars.
The conference is designed particularly for the European junior researchers who have participated in these workshop/seminars between 2004 and 2006, with the aim of fostering the networks initiated during these activities.
The conference marks the end of the four-year QMSS programme, which started in September 2003. The conference is also intended to be forward looking (an application has been submitted to the European Science Foundation for a continuation of QMSS).
The conference will feature:
- plenary sessions, with overview papers of each of the five topic areas covered by QMSS as well as additional invited papers;
- parallel sessions, with papers dealing with specific aspects of the five topic areas covered by QMSS. Papers are expected to include many applications of a wide range of methods to different European datasets as well as discussions of methodological issues.
